Happy Seventeen, Tiki !

Bernard Sfez / Tiki Specialist -

Congratulations to all of the Tiki family for completing 17 years of improvement, enhancement and continuous releases.

In October 2002 (on the 9th), the first piece of the Tiki open source software code was released, and today Tiki is one of the most advanced wiki-centric web applications available. Tiki 20 is the fruit of this hard work. This version is a big jump toward our next major release and everyone is warmly invited to upgrade to Tiki20 to enjoy many improvements. This achievement is the result of the continuous efforts of the Tiki contributors and community and it is a great celebration for all!

Tiki Celebrates 15th Birthday

Gary Cunningham-Lee -

On October 8, Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware marked 15 years of continuous development. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the project over the years by coding and bug-fixing, creating and hosting websites, and providing great feedback for further improvement.

The 15-year milestone was celebrated over a tonkatsu dinner at TikiFest Japan 2017 as Marc (Laporte) told the story of how Luis Argerich began work on the software in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2002. Tiki has steadily grown to become the Open Source web application platform with the most built-in features, leveraging the efficiency of the all-in-one, no-third-party-plugins model.

Happy Birthday, Tiki!

Two Upcoming TikiFest Events

ricks99 -

The Tiki Community is planning two TikiFest (code sprint) events in the next month:

All members of the Tiki Community, as well as anyone interested in wikis and content management systems (CMS) are invited to join us! Many of the most active contributors to Tiki will be present to plan, design, and code upcoming Tiki releases.

What is a TikiFest? It is a tradition in the Tiki community, a TikiFest is a meeting between Tiki community members (that usually only meet online). This is an opportunity to socialize, code and discuss about wiki technology and culture, etc. Learn more at https://tiki.org/TikiFest.

Tiki named to 10 Best Open Source Collaboration Software Tools list!

Rick Sapir / Tiki for Smarties -

The Tiki Community is proud to announce that Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware has been named by Small Business Computing as one of the best open source collaboration tools!
Top 10 list

From their article:

Collaboration software offer small businesses a wide variety of benefits. They can increase teamwork and communication, particularly if people on your team work in different locations. They can also help you share knowledge more widely throughout the organization and lessen the chance that employees will waste time duplicating the same work. They can also streamline your business processes and reduce the need for face-to-face meetings—both of which can decrease costs.

For Tiki specifically, the article goes on to say:

Today, it's a more full-featured open source collaboration software tool that also includes blogs, forums, calendar, image galleries, and surveys. Many people use it to manage their websites, and it can be particularly useful for intranets focused on a particular project.

Thank you to our helpful, active community of developers and users for helping Tiki make the list!

Roundtable this Thursday 19 May 2016

Bernard Sfez -

This month of May our monthly meeting, our Roundtable discussion, is on Thursday, 19 May 2016. Our Roundtable meetings are cordial and fun, and besides, you will learn and be at the heart of Tiki’s team action.

What time, do you ask ? :-)
We had a usual 1800 (6 p.m.) (UTC) meeting but it turned out to be a bit difficult for some of our members as the Tiki team is worldwide with members found in every time zone. We discussed the matter and initiated a time rotation to help widen participation and to encourage people to join us all around the clock. The time was set by a vote of the people!

Our Roundtable meeting will be, then, on Thursday, 19 May 2016 at 13:00 (UTC).

We will continue with this time adjustment if the experience is a success.

This month we have a very interesting second hour around "Branding and Marketing" for Tiki.
