Install problem with current CVS

Obviously I can't expect that what I got out of CVS tonight would just plain work, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

Unfortunately I hit problems during the web based install. I'm using mySQL 3.23.54 on a Red Hat 9 system. When it comes time to populate the database by hitting 'create' I get an long stream of SQL errors. (And yes the db exists and the user has privs)

From the errors it would seem that it is trying to use SQL for mySQL 4.0.13 even though I specified 3.x.

I've poked around a bit in tiki/db/ but have yet to figure it out. Is this a known issue with the current CVS tiki, or have I just done something horribly wrong?

No idea but take into account that all SQL queries in Tiki are currently being rewritten to make it truely database platform independant. This may have some bearing on your problems. I would stick to the latest stable release to avoid any unexpected results.

Regards,

Pat.

Well, right. I'd expect that changes made have some effect on the ability to install. Changes that break other things are pretty much expected when taking code from actively changing CVS.

I've set up and used the stable release. I'm interested in the IMAP functionality that's been added to webmail. From what I read it is in CVS now and so I wanted to check it out. That's why I'm trying the CVS code now.

I'm trying to avoid posting to the development forums since I'm not a developer (yet at least) and this question is specifically about installs. If that would be a better place to post though, please direct me there. If not, please direct me to someone that can actually answer the question. Otherwise I'll have to delve into just how tiki-install.php works and what about the population SQL is incorrect for 3.x and how to go about fixing it all on my own with no experienced hand to guide me.

I think your best bet would then be to post a message to the developer's mailinglist on SourceForge, not the forums. Hopefully someone who is aware of the install problem can then pick up on it.

Regards,

Pat.
