MySQL 4.1 breaks production site, advice?

Hello,
I know that Tikiwiki 1.8X isn't compatible with MySQL 4.1+ according to the documentation,
but our ISP has upgraded MySQL without keeping 4.0X around. Can anyone offer advice on how
to get the site up and running? Run Tikiwiki 1.9 and live with some instability?

Thanks in advance

No version of TikiWiki is ready to use with 4.1 yet.

Due to changes in the syntax queries it will be some time before its really ready in a production environment. Certainly using 1.9 is insane, unless you know PHP very well and dont mind bug fixing.

Damian,

On the page http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=ReleaseNotes185&bl you write:

"MySQL 4.1 support thanks to upgrade to latest ADOdb Damian"

Is it supported or is it not supported. I have the same problem that my provider uses MySQL 4.1. If it is not supported, when will it be supported?

Thanks,

Ronald

It was scheduled to be added into 1.8.5. But! mose and others in IRC released my release 1.8.5 without my knowledge so it never made it in.

Look for a 1.8.6 in some coming months. In the meantime try a TikiFriendlyHost

I too was forced to go to MySQL 4.1.x because of factors beyond my control. However I've been running 1.9RC3.1 for as long as it's been out without too many issues or problems on a semi-production intranet site.

My environment

  • dual Opteron 4GB RAM server with Debian (2.4.28)
    • Appro 2128Hs-81 server
  • PHP version 4.3.9
    • './configure' 'with-apxs=/usr/apache/bin/apxs' 'with-regex=system' 'enable-sysvshm' 'enable-track-vars' 'enable-trans-sid' 'enable-shmop' 'enable-sockets' 'with-mysql' 'with-zlib' 'with-gd' 'with-ldap=/usr/local/openldap' 'with-mm' '--with-sigchild'
    • php.ini
      • post_max_size: 500M
      • upload_max_filesize: 500M
      • memory_limit: 16M
    • apache 1.3.33
    • gd 2.0.28
    • mysql 4.1
    • zlib 1.1.4
    • tiki 1.9RC3.1 (upgraded from 1.8.4)
    • all uploaded files stored in a directory outside the tiki directory
    • ../tikifiles/file-gallery-files/
    • ../tikifiles/forum-attachments/
    • ../tikifiles/image-gallery-files/
    • ../tikifiles/tracker-files/
    • ../tikifiles/user-files/
    • ../tikifiles/wiki-attachments/
      • with an index.php in each directory to bounce browsers back to the tiki home page
      • write privileges to the apache user on all directories

The occasional relatively minor issue - but three different tiki's running on one intranet site.

The main thing at the moment is that image uploads to the image galleries appears to be broken - worked under 1.8.4 fine. When you upload an image it just takes you to a blank page and the upload did not succeed.

Other than that the sites seem to run just fine.

hi all,

we too lost two production sites due to our host upgrading to MySQL 4.1.10. he refuses outright to go back to a 4.0.x version as the risks would be too high.
we just started an international project which heavily depends on tikiwiki functionalities. please tell me a fix for this is coming very soon!!!

I suggest a poll on the importance of solving this issue!

There is still no current fix(s) in CVS.
