Permissions on main menu?

When a feature is enabled, does that mean that it automaticaly shows up in the Menu on the left? Even if the user does not have permission? When I have enabled a feature, but not given the user permission, the menu item appears, and then the user clicks on it and gets the no permission screen. Is there some way to tie the appearance in the menu to having at least read access to the feature so that it does no show if you do not have permission?

I think this the way it normally works. You will see the menu item but there will not be no 'sub-menu' items when expanding the menu. Clicking the menu will give your the 'permission denied' page.

The only way you can work around this - that I know of - is to define a custom menu for your users and assign the default application menu to admins only e.g.

Pat.

I think that you are right about createing a new menu. I might have to do that. I just discovered the menu thing.

I wish the main menu behaviour was to check that the user had at least read access before putting the menu item up though.
