Sun, please don't post the same question in more than one forum — it isn't necessary, since people who are inclined to respond to posts tend to see all new posts no matter what forum they are in. Actually this question should be asked in the Features/Usability forum.

I don't know the answer to this one off the top of my head, but will come back after some research if nobody else can give an answer.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Use the upcoming_events module the same as any other... You can assign it as a module in your left or right column, or within a wiki page by using the {MODULE} plugin. It will show the next XX events from the calendar.

The Calendar filter is different — use it to filter specific Tiki events (blog posting, wiki pages being updated, etc.) from appearing in the calendar.

Rick, there may be confusion because the Calendar module has the title "Calendar-filter" when it is displayed. You're right that the main Tiki calendar has a function with the same name; we might be talking about two different things here.

Sun, the Calendar module provides a simple calendar that also should affect how blog posts and articles are displayed. Clicking July 1, 2006, should show articles and blogs that were published as of that date and none that were published after then, so it's kind of like a "web archive" view. But this function seems to be broken; in my checking (with 1.9.4), there was no change in things displayed. The module doesn't seem to have any other function apart from being a simple calendar.

On the other hand, the Events module links to the main Tiki calendar. Clicking a link (date) in the module takes you to that day in the calendar (in a list view); there may be other functions or possibly information displayed with mouseovers hovering on dates, but I didn't check so I'm not sure. In other words, the Events module is essentially a door/window to Tiki's main calendar, and is interactive in relation to it.
