    Hi!
    I am building a tiki in english and spanish (not published yet):
    http://www.eba-stats.com/ebawiki

    My problem i that the "application menu" does not appears in spanish
    in spite that I have checked
    Multilingual
    Best Language
    Reg users can change language
    User Preferences Screen
    Detect browser language

    Imported the spanish language from "Languages"
    what gave me the date in spanish and another translation, but not the menu.
    When I go to "Menus" > Application Menu > Tools
    in "Preview Menu" the menu appearrs in perfect spanish
    with the browser Firefox in spanish logically....
    (with the browser Explorer in english, everything appears in english)

    Which is my fault ? What another thing I must check and where ?

    On the Admin: Modules page (tiki-admin_modules.php), edit the module that contains the menu. In the TITLE field, enter the title in Spanish (something like menú del uso — sorry, my Spanish is muy malo).

    I'm not sure, but that may help....

    When I check in Firefox, only wiki page and article content is in Spanish (I assume Spanish versions were written in these cases). All elements of the Tiki interface, such as the side column content, login page, categories page, etc. — which should respond to the language preference — stay in English, so apparently the language switch isn't working.

    When you say you "Imported the spanish language from 'Languages' what do you mean? Actually nothing needs to be touched in the lang/ directory; no importing needs to be done (if this means moving a file). The preferred language will be used automatically if the language file is in its original place and the language options are set properly — for every element that in the templates has tr (translation) tags.

    Hi Gary!
    When I said Firefox and Explorer checking I meant that:
    1) my firefox was downloaded in spanish, with spanish as principal language, so acts as if in Argentine, and give me the date in spanish, the home page is the tiki page in spanish and when logged in the option "edit a wikipage - edit" appears in in spanish, BUT ONLY THE APPLICCATION MENU continues in english.
    2) my explorer was downloaded in english, with english as principal language, so acts as if in USA, and here everything from the tiki is in english, out of the edited tiki pages in spanish, and the homepage in the one in english,

    When I said "Imported the spanish language from 'Languages': I thought that that was the problem, went to:
    admin > edit languages > imp-export languages > selected the languaje to import > spanish > imported.

    I see.

    Can you check on the Admin General page (tiki-admin.php?page=general) if "Use database for translation" is activated or not? It should not be activated.

    It was activated. Now it is NOT CHECKED. The problems continues ONLY with the menu. All the rest including the tabs, when you are logged in are in spanish....

    only checked "Detect browser language...

    AND EVERYTHING, INCLUDED THE APPLICATION MENU, THE SHOUTBOX AND THE FOOTER APPEARS
    IN SPANISH in the Spanish Firefox....????

    May be something with the selected Theme "tikipedia" in

    PS: No, it is not! I made a test changing tikipedia.css for a while to tikineat.css and appeared at Firefox in spanish the same problems, everything in spanish, only the menu in english...

    Hi!
    Solved the problem:
    Comparing my two tikis, the testing one, which gave me full spanish with the second, line by line, discovered that in the module
    mnu_application_menu
    the testing had "parameters: flip=y" and the second parameters empty....
    Simply copy and paste "flip=y" and that's all!
    I don't know what the significance of what I did, but ...success !
