Duplicate Posts with Forum and Mailing List Synchronization

posts: 6

I have followed your instructions pretty closely to synch my tiki forum with yahoo groups. It is working except I get duplicate posts when I post in my Tiki forum (they appear as threads on the same message). I do NOT get duplicate posts when I post directly to my yahoo group.

I use 3 email addresses:

* my yahoogroups email
* forumin at mydomain.net
* forumout at mydomain.net

and as far as I can tell my Tiki forum is NOT filtering out messages that come in from forumout at mydomain.net

I have made it so forumout at mydomain.net does not get emails from the yahoo group but is is subscribed to the mailing list. Am I missing something on setup or is this a bug?

As a workaround, can I "ban" the forumout at mydomain.net from posting to the tiki? I see it lets me ban users but not email addresses.

We are running version 5.1

Please help.

You might want to see about upgrading to 5.3 to see if that fixes your issue. I know that's probably not the silver bullet you were hoping for but it's a good place to start.

He, he, good advice, Darkbee, but i'm afraid that this bug a an old one, and still around, since no developer has brought to fix it.
Maybe a good option to fix this is to offer some money to some coder to fix it?

I know that jonnyb is currently accepting more payed jobs to keep working full time in tiki (otherwise, he'll have to move to other payed jobs out of tiki as a programer), and he works very well!. I don't know the current status or workload of the other publicly announced consultants.

Cheers

I'm having the same problem with the forums synchronizing with a mailing list. It's so close to being a useful feature for our intranet site. The duplicate posts are annoying and difficult to moderate. Are there any updates coming for the forums?

Here's a quick'n'dirty hack to make it work (still need a decent Fix in Tiki itself).

In lib/notifications/notificationemaillib.php insert the following around line 56:

lib/notifications/notificationemaillib.php
Copy to clipboard
$mail->setHeader("X-Tiki", 'yes');

And then in the POP3-mailbox create a Sieve rule like the following:

Copy to clipboard
if header :contains "X-Tiki" "yes" { discard; }

There is now a completely self-contained fix in SVN for Tiki 6, 8 and 9 - no need for sieve-rules any more! :-)
