Newbie: Save settings for future install?

I've just gotten a tikiwiki site up and running, with a theme, features, and settings configured the way we like it for our business.

Before we start adding lots of files and content, I thought it would be nice to save this setup as a "clean install" for use if we ever need to recover the site or if I want to start a different, but similar, site later.

How would I go about doing this?

Sorry if this is covered somewhere, but searching for "save settings" or "save profile" took me to unrelated ideas. Is there a term for this that I'm missing?

Thanks,
CB

Take a dump out of your Database.

(Databasebackup)

You even could make a profile out of your site, but I do not yet know how that works and if it would be appropriate.

For the Installationfiles -> like logos and such, you could save them "outside" the Tiki Root installation folder.

I have a logo in the header in different pages on two servers, and all the time it links to the one folder on the one server, where my logos and such is stored.

I would not save the logos and stuff in the database (even it would be possible)
So in the Tikiroot -> for ex.: in /img/tiki such stuff would be deleted if make a new clean install, what is recommended for updates.

Having files different than templates and favicon generally outside the Tikiroot saves time and spares grey hairs.

I guess you have a backup of your template and your favicon.
Besides the local.php and some code snipped to add to the htaccess this is pretty much all, I generally have to add in case of a new install while keeping my settings and links and all in the Database.

So Files:
Outside Tikiroot in a folder
Perhabs a few little files in the Databese (not recommended)

Settings and all:
In the database = in the DB dump/backup.
Or for your case perhabs also in a profile.

Generally:
Take dumps of your Database frequently - the more often the better.
Make up a Cronjob to getthis done automatically.

Thanks Torsten,

I think the profiles idea was what I was looking for (but didn't know the name of), but I will implement your other suggestions until that feature is a little more robust.
