Migrating softly

Hello,

i want to upgrade from tiki4 to 6 or 7 in near Future.

There are lots of new features to be tested before going live.

The idea is to do a migration as usual, try different configurations and features for a couple of days and the just import the tables containing Content (pages and trackers) from the productive Wiki.

Could someone give a hint on that ?

One way is to copy your current database and save it as a new database (using phpmyadmin for example) for the new Tiki version. After testing and so on, with the new Tiki test installation in a separate directory, you could then do the regular update to your current database. This way the current database continues to be used and you don't have to think about which tables contain content. I think it may not be obvious in all cases which tables these are.
