Tiki Importer

Issue importing from MediaWiki

Brazil

Hi all, How are you?

I have been trying to export data from MediaWiki version 1.22.5 into Tiki wiki version 13.0 with no success.

In MediaWiki, I export its contents using the following command:
php dumpBackup.php full uploads > backup.xml

In Tiki wiki, I try to import the generated xml file (backup.xml) through "Admin-> Tiki Importer" menu, but it always gives me the error: "Mediawiki XML file version 0.8 is not supported."

Please, May someone help me?Is there a workaround for this issue?

Thanks in advance,
Roger

Please, May someone help me?

Is there any other tool to import MediaWiki content into Tiki Wiki?

I appreciate any help you can give me,
Roger

Hi Roger,

I'm the original developer of the MediaWiki importer back in 2009.

As far as I know no one is currently maintaining it.

The importer was tested until Mediawiki XML 0.5. You could try to see if it works with version 0.8 by adding this version to the list of supported versions in the file lib/importer/tikiimporter_wiki_mediawiki.php. It is necessary to check if anything changed on the XML that will break compatibility with the importer.

Please let us know if it works and then someone can update the importer on the repository.

Greetings from Brazil as well,

Rodrigo

I could not find the file "tikiimporter_wiki_mediawiki.php".
I found this file: "/includes/Import.php".
Do you know if it is the same file that you told me to look at?

I appreciate any help you can give me,
Roger

Hello rogersilva,

I am not maintaining the importer and cannot really directly help, BUT Frank and me are supporting a project which is moving to Tiki and thus will very soon import a MediaWiki into Tiki.

There are a few guys in the project who seem to be database pros and will figure out the import ... afaik there is a plan to use the importer, maybe to fix it, maybe to pre or post process the data.

You can write me an e-mail to torsten@tiki.org and please Cc. to Frank fmg@tiki.org for that we both are on track - from there we can figure out how to keep you updated.

We surely cannot do your import, but I do not see any problem to share the technical information how our guys succeeded (and they will succeed) and what did not work.

Regards,
Torsten

Hi there, I'm having the same issue but it says "Mediawiki XML file version 0.1 is not supported."

Is there any other way to do this? I saw the wiki2csv but I had issues with figuring out the pythos commands...

Hi, I suggest that you write an e-mail to Frank Frank at tiki dot org, who is in closer contact than me to some guys who actually are importing a MediaWiki to Tiki and have made a successful proof of concept.

But they did do some hardcoding - maybe based on the existing script, maybe not. I have no idea if they'd be prepared to help, but maybe some ointers could be given.

Good luck!

Torsten
