Set permission in files in File Galleries

Hi, Does anyone can help me that Tiki can set the permission in a file after uploaded in File Galleries?

I have set the folder called "Restricted" and set the permission for Restricted group user only, and I upload a file called "confidential" to this folder. Then, I use a normal user account to login Tiki and search "confidential", the result can show this file is storing in "Restricted" folder. I try to open the folder but it popup that I have no permission to enter the folder. And I click the file directly in the result page and it can success to be download or open it. The search result can cross over the permission right of "Restricted" folder to open it.

Please reply if anyone knows how to solve this problem, thanks.

Yes, you can change a file's permission at any time by adding/removing it from a specific category.

Simply edit the file's properties. In the Edit File page, change the file's category to your Restricted category.

Thanks for your reply Rick, but I do not understand which place to change the category of file by user group? Can you show me in details?  Thanks.

You need to:

  1. Create a category with the necessary permissions  (for example, Restricted).
  2. Assign the group the necessary permissions for the category (for example, only allow members of the specific group to be able to access the Restricted category).
  3. Add the file to the Restricted category.

You might find my primer helpful.

Hi Rick,

I have followed your steps to set a category in the file but still failed, can you tell me what's wrong on my procedures? I am now showing the steps and the main problems to you as below.

1. I have created a folder called "standard authorised" and set permission to be viewed and edited by restricted group users only, and i have uploaded two files in this folder.

Sample1

2. I have set the category to "restricted group" in the file "chinese advanced search".

Sample2

3. And I confirm that the normal user group has no category assigned.

Sample3

4. I login as a normal user and start search by keyword " chinese"

Sample4

5. I clicked the folder "standard authorised" and it shows I have no permission to view it.

Sample5

6. But I can download it when I clicked th file "chinese advanced search". (This is the main problem)

Sample6

Please tell me is it the boundary of the file permission which can be searched and open if I search it, and teach me how to fix it with details.  Thanks a lot.
