Problem With Image Thumbnails

I am able to add an image at it's original size to a page, but when adding anything else - like a thumbnail, expand button, description and then saving the entire page goes blank.

No text or image appears, even though the page has data on it. If I remove the formatting and just insert the image from the file gallery everything works fine.

I've been using the image icon on the edit page to choose the options from, so I know it's not an issue of having typed in something wrong.

Anyone else seen this - or have an idea how to fix it?

What I really want is a thumbnail at the right of the page with a caption, and an option to open the thumbnail full size.

Thanks

Blank pages are commonly a memory issue. You can run the Tiki Server Check (tiki-check.php) to see if there are any problems with your hosting environment. Please see the docs for details: https://doc.tiki.org/Server+Check

Also, you should check your server logs (you may need to adjust the error reporting value your php.ini file first).

Hi Rick

I was able to figure out how to get the server check to run -

I currently have more than 251 megs of disk space - which the server check says is good

The memory limit is 256 mg - which the server check says is good.

I looked everywhere through the cpanel and the various folders and files but couldn't find the php.ini file , I wonder if I dont have access to it since I'm only buying space on the host.

Its weird that the image will show up just fine at full size - but won't work when there's any other formatting attached to the information string, like thumb="y"

Your php.ini is normally in the root of your webfolder (but this may vary, depending on your host).

If you want the image to  be a popup, you probably want thumb=popup.

What Tiki version are  you using? I tested with Tiki14 and it works as expected. See the demo site: https://demo.tiki.org/14x/ImageTest

Poked around in the  folders on my cPanel file manager page but didn't find php.ini

I'm guessing that I'm not tech savvy enough to figure out where its hiding, or where to find the root webfolder.

The download I got from the Tikiwiki site is version 8.3 - I tried to do an update but got some weird error messages - so I'm not sure how to get it to upgrade to the most current version.

Having the most current version might fix the image glitch.  I'll try playing with it today - but if I can't get an update to work I'll post my error problem over in the Install forum.

My apologies -

It looks like the Tiki Installer I used was version 8.3  not the Tiki itself.

I'm now not actually sure what version I have.

Is there a place to find that information?

Also on the subject of php.ini often times you have to create it yourself, just create a new file and call it php.ini i your root directory and you can use commands as found here http://php.net/manual/en/ini.list.php

MEMORY_LIMIT = 256M

there are other variables you can set in the php.ini such as upload file limits

UPLOAD_MAX_FILE_SIZE = 2M

and so on.
