Best way to re-connect to db?

Suddenly today:

''Lost Tiki database connection
Sorry but there seems to be a problem connecting to the system's database
This may only be a temporary problem, so please wait a while and click to try and go back to the home page
If it persists you should contact your system administrator ''

I didn't do anything to my installation since yesterday or the day before that was working normally, so I wonder if this is a problem with the host's machines. I have submitted a question to them, but in the meantime, what is the best way to re-connect? Should I run the whole "install.php" session or there is a simpler way to connect?

The answer by the hosting company was that the problem occurred on their end, due to an upgrade in servers supporting php 7.X, which blocked communications with all DBs with prefix :3306 (like mine). So it was restored by them, too.

Still, I would appreciate to know if -in the future- I want to reconnect with a DB, the only way doing that is by running mysite.com/install.php?

You can edit the file local.php in the db directory of a tiki installation if you want to change the credentials and settings of the database directly, without going through the complete install / reinstall process. Is that what you were asking?

That't the case Rick.
