Numbered headings being altered on save

posts: 126

Hi all,

I have been correcting the formatting on Geek.Zone/Constitution, which requires numbered headings. As far as I can see, this is achieved with;

TikiWiki markup to generate a numbered heading
Copy to clipboard
!# Lorem Ipsum

Where Lorem Ipsum is some example heading text

When I save the page, however, this is changed to

Numbered heading after save
Copy to clipboard
!18. Lorem Ipsum

Where the "18." are fixed characters, set to that position in the list.

From then on, affected headings are not updated when other headings are added. I thought the entire point of a numbered list is that one can add more and the numbers will be generated accordingly! Weirdly, the first 9 headings appear to have remained on the #! notation, but the rest have been converted to fixed numbers. We clearly need all of the headings to remain dynamic.

What is going wrong? What could be changing our markup? How do I ensure that the heading numbers remain dynamic rather than fixed characters? Is there an option to turn on numbered headings for the whole page, rather than putting them in manually on a per heading basis?

The numbering seems work normally on the demo site: https://demo.tiki.org/18x/tiki-index.php?page=Numbered

I couldn't duplicate your issue. I added, inserted, and saved several headings, but Tiki renumbered them correctly.

Are you using any custom styles that override the numbering?

What version is your Tiki? If you're using an older version, maybe it is a bug that was fixed in the current version. Try upgrading to the current release.
