It's easy to install and configure Dadabik so that it appears to function as a center-area module within Tikiwiki. Here's how:
Download and install Dadabik. Follow the instructions. NOTE: The instructions aren't very clear on this point... you must first CREATE your database (use PhpMyadmin or some other MySQL manager) AND the database tables. THEN configure Dadabik's config.php to point to the database.
Add your Dadabik database to Tikiwiki using Featured Links (click Links in the Administration menu).
Dadabik's styles and colors will no doubt conflict with Tiki's. Unfortunately, table colors are hard-coded in Dadabik; you'll have to edit header.php and certain other files to clean up the styles. There is a style sheet for some of the styles.
The strength of DaDaBIK lies in its ability to be customized. For each field of a table you can choose:
if the field should be included or not in the search/insert/update form
the form label (what will appear in the form near the input field)
the content of the field (e.g. numeric, alphabetic, e-mail, url......)
the input type (e.g. select, checkbox, date, text, password......)
the possible values, also driven from another table (foreign key support)
Other features include file uploading (images and other files) and checking for possible duplication during an insert.
The graphic layout of DaDaBIK is customizable to enable embedding of the forms in your own site.
DaDaBIK differs from other applications like PHPMyAdmin in that it aims not to enable administration of a MySQL database, but rather to include MySQL search/insert/update/delete features in a Web site.
DaDaBIK is available in English, Italian, Dutch, German, Spanish and French
