The whole concept of wiki's is something to watch, especially when it's capabilities are integrated into forums.

From my experience as an online community developer/administrator since the old FIDOnet days (see K12net.org), I suspect a wide-open wiki might be a bit too intimidating for a first time user, especially those who are used to a more linear environment.

I suspect that a forum, with it's chronological and thread linearity which also happens to incorporate wiki capabilities might help to serve as a transitional bridge for those folks. It seems like it would help them 'ease into" this new world.
