If you switch half way through, only new images are uploaded to the file storage, the originals remain in the db. likewise if you change again now back to db, new ones are stored in DB, some in file and some of the original in DB.
Also in some bugged versions of Tiki, the thumbnail was stored in the database regardless. I believe thats need fixed.
