I don't think that's correct, really. Both have their advantages. phpBB naturally has more forum-related permissions and has a group-manager role that Tiki doesn't have an equivalent of. But Tiki has much finer-grained permissions covering many more objects, and has a lot more flexibility, it seems to me.

I haven't used this feature but I assume it means that for each user that registers one new group is created, with a membership of one: that user. (Of course the same thing can be done manually by the admin, but activating this option automates the process.) Since Tiki permissions normally are specified for groups rather than individuals, this is a way to have individual-level permissions. I guess this would be good for a site where individuals' galleries, wiki pages, etc. would be needed with distinct permissions set (a permissions automation not possible with phpBB, by the way wink.
