At a blog at zukakakina.com (Tiki 1.9.4), I used the image Quicktag like this:
{img src=http://themes.tikiwiki.org/img/wiki_up/kubrick_screenshot.jpg width=160 height=120 align= desc= link=http://themes.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Kubrick }. After saving the blog post (no error messages) the image address is still reported as themes.tw.o.
I don't use the WYSIWYG editor. Maybe it makes assumptions about the image source that conflict with external addresses. In the meantime it seems using the Quicktags and inputting wiki syntax manually is the way to go if you want to use external images, unless there is some other cause for the errors.
