Sorry to be so frightening. wink

Unless someone else knows a way. As far as I know, there is no mechanism in a standard Tiki installation for one-step image upload directly to a wiki page that inserts a thumbnail linking to a larger version. There isn't anything equivalent to the thumb parameter image syntax used at Wikipedia, for example.

> What about using the wiki page upload picture functionality? How can this be used to handle thumbnails on the fly, too? I don't want my users to go through an additional gallery upload ....

On a bit of a side note, I believe you've been using Tiki for at least a few years so I'm rather surprised at the reaction to my response here. I would expect that this issue would have already come up due to demand for a transparent one-step thumbnail creation. It's odd that there haven't been posts were made here about it or feature requests made, unless I've missed them. Just curious why the sudden surprise. In any case, I imagine a plugin could be written that would use the gallery upload code to resize the image and insert the thumbnail; it would be handy for situations especially where people weren't already accustomed to using the galleries.

> And next: if a pictures get's changed on a page, and I would be using a gallery link to that picture, how could I find out, which pictures of a gallery are no longer needed? (e.g. all wiki pages referencing a picture have been altered to a new version ...

There is no web front-end for it as far as I know, but database queries could be done to find "not in wiki pages" gallery images, I suppose. This seems somewhat problematic in that the fact that a gallery image is not linked to by any wiki page (which is what "no longer needed" would amount to in the context of wiki page use, and what the db queries would determine) may not necessarily mean that the image is not wanted in a gallery for other purposes such as direct viewing. (I don't know if this could be enforced, but users could be instructed to use a particular gallery for images to be displayed in wiki pages. Then it would be much easier to determine which are actively linked to and which are not and so could be removed.) Clearly, linking to gallery images has certain weaknesses from the resource management perspective, which using the editpage's image upload function eases. So, yes, it would be good to be able to insert the image during page editing as a thumbnail.
