Keep in mind there are two options for wiki table syntax --"|| for rows" and "\n for rows" (new line in the wiki edit box for a new row in the table). The second option is older, the first is relatively new. If tables were made originally with one method and then the option was changed, the old tables might break, I'm not sure. The example you show is the newer method, which this site is configured to use.
