You could rename the files, but you'd have to also remove the "tiki-" in all of the code where these file names are written. This could be done with a global search and replace, probably, but there'd be problems when you want to upgrade your site.
The question of having the Tiki name in the file names has been raised, but since making a change would be a pretty big deal, probably it won't happen any time soon. (There's strong concern for "preserving the environment" for existing users and sites, etc.)
If you rename the _htaccess file in the root directory to .htaccess, you can use short URLs via apache rewriting, like http://tikiwiki.org/forum4, which simplifies things in some ways.
