The Chat feature that's been part of TikiWiki hasn't been maintained for quite a while and new options are becoming available. At mods.tikwiki.org you can get a phpfreechat wikiplugin. So this would put a chat window in a wiki page using the plugin. Tiki 2.0 also has a minichat module which is kind of like shoutbox but uses Ajax to update independent of page refreshes. It could be used in the sidecolumn or could go in a wiki page using the module wikiplugin. I don't think there's much interest in looking at the old chat feature files etc.
