OK, that's the problem. There should be 200+ tables created during the installation. Maybe you need to increase the maximum execution time in your php.ini file.
Try re-running the installer (just go to tiki-install.php). At the end of the installation, Tiki will display a page that shows how many queries were run and if there were any errors (see here, for a sample.
