Well, yeah, there are real implementations of page staging out there. It's used by the Tikiwiki installation that runs support.mozilla.org, so I guess glitches here are due to incomplete backporting of the modifications made by the Mozilla team. I'm not sure what the status of this is. Also, of course, the Mozilla project is in full control of the hardware it's running on, so doesn't have to test or accomodate all the variations in server OSs and configurations, etc. But this is a desired feature so will be worked on and improved for general use.
