What Anonymous users can see

Hello,

I am building a private site that I only want registered users to see. As such, I would, for example, want to disable tiki_p_view for anonymous users. The trouble is that if I do that, I don't have a front page - can't even say that this is a private site.

If I leave tiki_p_view on, I then get created and modified by user information at the bottom of the home page which is public - information that you can click on. It seems I can turn this information off in the Wiki section, but only globally.

Can you suggest how I should deal with this situation?

Thanks in advance,

Karl

You could use a custom home page, or override the permissions for the Home Page only.

You can override the global setting on a page-by-page basis.

This is a fairly straight forward request, and Rick suggestions will stand you in good stead.

There are a couple of different techniques I use to achieve this type of thing. First is to enable group homepages (found under Admin->General). That way, you can set one homepage for anonymous users and another for registered users (everyone else)

Another possibility is to create a "Public" category, then put any pages you do want anonymous users to see in that category (ensuring you give the right permissions to the public category of course).

Either way, I don't think you should have any problem achieving this, it's something I do all the time.

Karl,
I just did exactly what you're looking to do.
For the group "anonymous" I assigned them a static HTML page as their home page.
For a user group I assigned them a static HTML page specific to the product they are assigned to.
I edited the permissions of each document so they couldn't see each other's pages.

Thanks guys!

They are great suggestions and I now see how to achieve what I want. It's just a matter of choosing which method!

Thanks and regards,

Karl
