Many times these database errors are caused by a mismatch between the query sent by the Tiki files and the structure of the database that receives the query. So the fix is to run the database upgrade script to make sure the database is up to date with the files of that version (and also to make sure the files are complete). Other people might have more suggestions, but this is what I'd try first.
It might be worth upgrading the site to at least the last Tiki 2 release (list of releases), which might take care of the problem and also fix some security vulnerabilities. For Tiki 3, there are template file changes that will mean more upgrading work for sites with custom themes, which is worth it IMHO, for the jquery and other goodies.
