If you don't get any helpful replies here, I suggest you ask on IRC (Freenode #tikiwiki) or on the tikiwiki-devel mailing list (link in the menu above). More developers will see the questions there. No idea about the database question myself; regarding the custom edit pages, maybe they'd be possible using Trackers.
