    I am currently running TW5.1 and am wondering about upgrading Smarty. I don't see that Smarty is a required package in the TW install requirements page, but I do know that TW supports Smarty calls via CODE interface. I checked my Smarty version and I'm running 2.6x, so the question is, can I safely upgrade to 3.x without upsetting the applecart? Is TW5.1 built using Smarty templates?

    Yes, but Tiki uses a bundled version of Smarty, so it won't be affected if you upgrade a system Smarty.

    So are you saying that Wiki plugins can/will use the bundled Smarty instead of a system installed Smarty?
