According to the docs, http://doc.tiki.org/Navigation, Use URL as index should let you have any wiki page as the site homepage (and this used to work) but it seems to be buggy in Tiki 6.2, or anyway it isn't working in my test. So that pretty much nullifies my suggestion to use a wiki page as a custom home; hopefully the bug will be fixed in the next release.
