I am curious what people use the articles feature for? It seems redundant in light of blogs and even the wiki. One nice thing about articles is that you can add a addthis button to the page. Is there anything else that sets the article feature apart from a blog or the wiki?

The concept is different for articles. They are based on the CMS design for news sites, etc., where you have basically one author per article (not meant to be worked on collaboratively), a particular publishing date (not meant to be edited continuously over time), and a different structure per article, with title, subtitle, author, date, then intro text and article body. Plus, like slashdot.org and similar sites, there are article topics, which are a kind of category system, and each can have an icon or image to represent it (like Apple, MS, Linux, Android topics, etc.). Well, this is a kind of set arrangement that even predates wikis.

With Tiki's articles you can also define types, and set them up to be for reviews and so on. So they are more structured than wiki pages or blog posts. See http://doc.tiki.org/Articles for more details. I thought there was a "wiki vs. articles" page around here but don't see it now.
