Re: Re: Multi domain tiki, central site and sattelites
Hi dennmans,
'Mulittiki' and 'TRIM' are two techniques to admin several independant Tikiwebsites more or less from one central access point.
As far as I know (never used each of them) 'Multitiki' would use only one central Tiki-root directory, but individual databases for each individual website.
'TRIM' instead uses individual directories and individual databases. I do not know, if TRIM is only configured via ssh-shell or if there is a frontend.
Usecases for such stuff are for example 'wikifarms', where you want to setup Tiki-installations for many users more or less automatically or the handling of 'a lot of different independant projects' all based on Tiki.
'Perspectives', 'Workspaces' and 'Areas' are different techniques for different usecases, like you find related with intranet or subwebsites of projects which are related to each other.
To be considered are aspects like if the groups aof administrators will be more or less homogeneous or completely different -> 'user and rights management' or if the structures and features of the sites fit together or not.
A related feature is 'Intertiki', where you can share users and groups over several Tiki-installations -> one master installation where you register and several slave installation, which have reduced usermanagement and import the users and optional groups from the master.
-> all users apart from the one admin are stored only in the database of the master and userpermissions and groupmemberships of each user are refreshed at every login.
Hope that helps to makle things a bit more clear,
cheers
Torsten
