Re: Creating new page and category

Hi cjfribbins,

there are ways to set default categories.

But the organisation of rights and roles is a non-trivial task, so maybe it needs a more detailed discussion than just to say a) yes and b) do this.

  1. you can set a default category for each usergroup (tiki-admingroups.php) -> but what's when not a general edit permission?
  2. you can setup a quickedit module with a preset category and make it visible for only the group -> but being in several groups, a user would see several of these modules
  3. you can assign these quickedit modules only to the categories where they should be use and to the group -> the user could only create in the category/area of the page, even if it might be handy for him to create a page for any permitte category from whereever he is at the moment
  4. you could use wikistructures and autocategorise the structures pages on page creation
a good supplement for this would be 'magic menus' -> literally module_menu with the parameter structure Id instead of menu Id
  5. you could set a general group permission to all editors and generally allow page creation, but limit the visibility to only categorised wikipages (if not in one of the editors groups)
then you could set the default category for the groups and the editors could only optionally categorise those categories they are permitted to
  6. maybe more options ... have to think about it
maybe you first want think about these and play with it ... maybe you can setup a tiny concept paper, who/what, ... a simple rights and roles concept
