Problems with 10.2 - Admin can't see wiki pages with pictures

I am still trying to get version 10.2 working and I have identified an interesting effect.

When I log in as admin, most but not all pages in my Wiki appear blank (completely white with no content at all).

I think that the blank pages all contain pictures. The ones is shows correctly do not contain pictures.

I can see the pages correctly if not logged in.

Does this make any sense?

Could it be that all of my problems are related to some kind of memory limit for PHP (of for smarty)?

A user who is not logged in to my site sees almost no modules. I have a one column format with wiki content.

On logging in as admin, I get at least 5 additional modules. The wiki pages without pictures might just be the shortest pages.

I don't have direct access to the php.ini file, but I might be able to get the service provider to tweek some settings for me.

You can try using Tiki Server Check to confirm your environment meets the necessary requirements. Please see the docs for details.

I have saved the results to a (.htm) file and attached it.

It is ugly without the images, but it contains the basic details.

There are a bunch of things marked as ugly, or as risky, but I can't see any absolute no gos.

I see that PHP memory limit at 128M is marked as ugly.

Could this be my problem?

Unfortunately, I cannot increase it.

My web-hoster could increase it, but is reluctant to do so. He has made me offer which I think is too expensive. In the end, I may move to a different host, but I would prefer not to.

I have just made another test, which was to install my site on a test system running linux in my LAN. This worked fine. I imported my old database and ran the update. No problems at all.

In particular, I did not need to increase the memory limit.

Is it likely that it would work on one linux system with 128M, but not on another?

My next test will be make a blank database on the web server and make a fresh tiki installation. If that doesn't work, then something is screwed up on the server.

Is there anything I should look for in phpinfo?

This is my latest debugging hack.

In the function fetch in the file smarty_internal_templatebase.php I have added the following echos.

Copy to clipboard
if ( $template == 'styles/jollans2/tiki.tpl' ) { echo(" TEST A " ); } // // render compiled template // $_template->properties['unifunc']($_template); if ( $template == 'styles/jollans2/tiki.tpl' ) { echo(" TEST B " ); }

On pages which work, I see both TEST A and TEST B. On pages which fail, I see only TEST A.

I guess that this means that it is crashing in the rendering function.

There is an exception handler (try/catch) but I have no indication that it is entered.

Any ideas?

Hi Rick,

raising to 256 MByte sounds nice, but is illusionary. At least for people like me. In Germany, 1&1 is the largest hosting provider, and they give you only 90 MByte, no matter how much you pay them.

Tiki developers should better start saving some memory...

Looks like I never posted my final solution to this problem.

Eventually, I moved my web site to another host. On the new host, it worked without any problems. (I chose a provider which allowed me to do a trial before signing up.)

I do not have a clue what the problem was on my old server. Apparently something was broken on the server. It is frustrating that the tiki-check.php did not identify the problem.

I agree with Oliver that 256MB is relatively unrealistic. I still only have 128MB. However, my provider would provide 256MB at a higher monthly cost. I am also in Germany. There is competition between providers and you don't have to use 1&1.

Hi Phil,

which one is your new provider? Maybe I'll have to move, too...

Thanks
Oliver
