Bobzim is correct.
I'm guessing your not using windows or Internet Explorer but the others are.
There is a bug in 1.7.5 and 1.8 RC's that require the tiki site to be moved into a subfolder http://localhost/tiki for example. We do have many posts about this on the forums 
and it has been addressed ready for the next releases
