PDF Documentation???

I am trying to get Tiki 12.0 docs into PDF format and failing miserably. I have tried Firefox SaveAs, HTTrack Web Site Copier (to at least get the web pages on my local computer) and have tried all 3 techniques using Open Office and breaking links (I never get more than 2 links to break).

Any suggestions?

I want to be able to have any manual (Install, Reference, User, etc.) in PDF format so that I can print it and write notes on it.

Any help is appreciated and will be shared with the Tiki Community.

hi whitst

There is no PDF available for Tiki12. The last book-like documentation was the printed manuals for the "Tiki Essentials" and the "Tiki for Smarties" books.
http://tikiforsmarties.com

And generating a single pdf out of BIG doc.t.o structures is not working as expected (mainly due to issues with maketoc's, and such.

You'll have to stick with online documentation in https://doc.tiki.org , or the nice books from Rick Sapir named above.

Welcome to improve this situation, if you can (specially if you code)

P.S: The last full pdf from a Tiki version was from Tiki 1.9, compiled by me, many years ago. Maybe this can help you, specially if you are not used with the basic concepts and you want to have a free/cc-by-sa pdf handy with the basics?:

Actually, the last PDF we generated was for Tiki6:

  1. Go to http://doc.tiki.org/Documentation
  2. Click the Documentation tab
  3. There's a PDF Download link for the Installation and Reference guide.

Instead of using Save..As.., you should try simply printing to a PDF driver (works for me).

I also (used to) provide PDFs of Smarties and Essentials on Scribd.

Yeah - the Installation Guide you referenced is dated June 20, 2011

When I print to PDF I only get the current page. Did you print each page to pdf and then merge them with Adobe Acrobat?

No, you need to print the entire structure — not a single page. Please see the docs for details.

Hello whitst, my name is Daniel.

1) FYI, as I did the same a few years ago, here is what I did:

PDF guide

I went to this directory at:

http://tikiforsmarties.com/Training

and I did the self-paced training classes slowly and thouroughly. However, have a deeper look at it as I think the udemy tutorial is not up to date

Gettting my way

IYet, i may sound tedious at the beginning to do exercises and take this kind of training tutorial class, yet, day by day, a little bit by little bit, I learned "the tiki way"

Just don't get discourage and do a little bit every day and you will succeed.

And yes, I also printed the whole pdf manual, page by page for reference purpose.

Remember

whitst, remember to help as well. If your good at it, meaning that this community is users involment driven and everyone helps each others, get involved. What I did and this is what I suggest you to do too, is subscribe to the user developers group via Sourceforge. See:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/tikiwiki/

Another place to be involved

Join a team at: http://tiki.org/Teams

2) And while I'm at it: Here is my question
How do I set the control editing options users see

Setting what the user sees and uses when editing a page

Re documentation of "How to modify and adjust the look and feel" of the "editing options" when we are into a page and we edit something, where can I find the info?

Here is what I mean: When we use tiki and we are in edit mode, per example this post allows me to make the text look better by adding bold, italic, underline, crossed letters and add also a smily face if I want to.

I went to: tiki-admin.php?page=textarea and could not find what I need to do

Per example, where do I add the functionality of the "Toggle Highlighter" (like I see here on this editing space bellow this editing space? Etc.

Tks.

Daniel.
