Displaying Group Permissions on Page

Greetings all,

I'm still learning about the proper terminology for all Tiki features, so forgive me if this question is confusing.

Our use case for Tiki is as a company Intranet. There will be four separate departments using it. Each department will have restricted areas viewable only to members within that department. It's apparent that Tiki's permission system is capable of handling this requirement. However, I would like to display the associate group permissions for any given page either in the header or the footer of said page.

Is this something I can find within a Module or will this require custom code?

Thanks much,
MB

You can easily display specific content for specific groups in any module area. When adding a module, simply specify the Group for which the module should be visible.  Please see the docs for details.

If you have a custom module in which you want to display different content for different users, depending on their group, you can use the Group pluginor  use PluginPerm for specific permissions.

Thanks for your reply, Rick.

Rereading my post, it appears that I wasn't clear.  I'm aware of the different permissions available.  What I'm trying to be able to do is to display the permissions for a given page *within* the page, so while browsing the site the viewer could immediately see what the permissions for that page are.

Think of it as a type of "debug mode" that would only be enabled during our build and initial content creation process.

Any pointers for how to accomplish that?

Thanks again,

MB

I don't know if you can do it within the page itself, but on any wiki page, you can simply click the PERMISSIONS button, then select Object Permissions List, and you'll  get a list of all the permissions for that page/object, listed by group.

Thank you again, Rick.

I am aware of that page attribute.  My goal was to make it more overt, so the content creators were aware of the various groups that would be able to see their content, as security is rarely their first, or even fifieth concern.

Based on the lack of response from anyone else, I'm left to assume that this request is impossible absent some more serious code changes.

Thanks again,
