Unable to set theme to full width

I am having an issue with my version 14 Tiki. I installed it and all seemed to be going well but I am unable to set themes to full width when I uncheck the "Fixed Width" box. I would like to see the theme fit from side to side full monitor width.
Also the theme preview mode is not working either when I click on individual themes.
I am suspicious that it may have something to do with "File Permissions" in my directory, or?
When I initially loaded 14 onto my shared hosting server, and I went to the domain to run the installer, I retrieved a 500 internal server error.
After reading up on that issue in the SuPHP problems section at Installation Guide I changed my root directory tiki folder permissions to 755 and all the files in the root directory to 644 and it was then I was able to install Tiki 14 successfully.
But I am thinking perhaps there is still a permission I missed somewhere?
If anyone would like to see what I am seeing please go to my pre-production site at The Patriot Woodwiki and you can login with:
User: admin
Password: testuser
and go to admin-themes to view the issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I was able to finally get the theme preview box to pop by changing permissions of the themes folder at the root directory to 775.

Step by step, but I'd still like to know if anyone here can help me with the full width issue.

Thank you

UPDATE: I was using my Tiki, and just going from page to page, and finally the full width kicked in! Out of the blue, it just happened, maybe things just need to be oiled, and used and shaken loose? But it's working now.

Thanks for reading.

Perhaps someone was in the site and set the width to 100%. I found that it seems that was changed. And I did not change it, whoever did thanks! Now I know how to make it full width!

Hi,

I logged in to your test site and tried a few things. First of all, if you change the preference filter (this is the funnel-looking icon at the left end of the horizontal text menu above the feature icons on the admin pages) to include "advanced" in addition to "basic", this will give you more configuration options.

In Tiki 13 the fixed-width setting was broken but it has been fixed in the 14 development branch, maybe since the beta release if it's not working at your site yet. In the meantime, there's a workaround. If you check the "fixed-width" checkbox and then input "100%" as the width, you'll get the full-width layout. Counter-intuitive but it should work. (The width input field is hidden when only the "basic" options are displayed, but revealed when the "advanced" box is checked.)

In the latest branch 14 files, the fixed-width checkbox works as it should, so the workaround should just be a temporary measure.

Thank you so much Gary, that was awesome. I saw that, you and I must of been on there the same time, I went to one page from another and there it was, full width, really cool.

I see where it works and how you did it, thanks again, I really appreciate your help on this.
