wysiwyg editor not displaying all toolbars...

Hello,

I'm a complete newbie both to creating a website and tiki and have just installed the newest version - whichever that is. Funny thing, when I go to edit the homepage the editor displays the first 2 toolbars only. If I switch betweeen the editors I get the same thing. Opening and changing stuff under admin toolbars has no effect whatsoever and I can't seem to find any button to click to get them toolbars displayed. I understand this can just be me being stupid but still.... any help you can afford to give I would really appreciate.

Thank you

Are you clicking on the pencil icon at the far upper right of your tool bar to bring it into Wysiwyg, and vise versa?

Yes I am. That's exactly the icon I click to switch between the editors. No matter which editor, or shall we say editor view, I can only see 2 toolbars. Then under Admin Toolbars I can see more available and I have options to add additional icons relating to other editing functions but even if I do Load and Save nothing changes when I'm back in the editor. Clueless as I am, if I can't get text editing right what other problems await me in the tikiwiki environment? Anyway, thank you for sparing a moment of attention.

Just gotta cover our bases here se7en. Is Wysiwyg enabled?
Also, did you do a manual install for your Tiki or was it a service such as Softaculous through your hosting company? And, did you go through the Configuration Wizard to get your Tiki all set up?

Oh, and by the way, don't feel bad about losing your way around Tiki for awhile, it's huge! It's intimidating at first for seasoned website creators even.
And, as you testing different wiki softwares, they all are kind of intimidating, a wiki is a different animal, with different language than your typical CMS software. So hang in there and come back here for help.

Hello again,

Thank you for coming back again. To answer all questions:
1. Wysiwyg is enabled - without it there's no option to switch between the editors.
2. Installation done using softaculous provided by my hosting company in the control panel
3. I did go through configuration wizard but left most of the options as default - as they were. If I don't exactly know what I'm doing I seem to choose not doing at all. At least this way I tend to screw up less in the process. Having said that, there might be some parametres there that need changing but again I wouldn't know which ones exactly. I did tick the Wysiwyg box under the "Select Editor type" option though.

As to the software itself. I'm patient and so far in case of this software I find the frustrations coming from 2 directions only: one is the technical language that "I am supposed to understand" and the second one are instructions that don't match any reality. I'm sure things will get easier in time so I'm not complaining. One step at the time, a little bit each day and the progress ought to occur :-)

Hello,

attached 2 files.
Clip1 shows a page being edited. As you can see there are 2 toolbars. Once that starts with letter "B" icon and one that start with a word "Format".
Clip2 shows the view when we go to Admin Toolbars. You can see Row1, Row2, Row3 and Row4 toolbars.

All I would like to have is the Row3 toolbar displayed when editing the page - that would be a third row under the ones shown in clip1.

I'm not even going into adding functions to toolbars or creating any custom ones. Just to have that 3rd one displayed as is - you can appreciate it has 3 quite important features related to font editing.

In all fairness the whole "text editing polava" started with me not being able to change the settings for Header1, Header2, etc. fonts for the entire theme. If I could do that I wouldn't need this ability of changing styles, colours and sizes of fonts on individual pages. I'm trying to use the Theme called "Cyborg" but cannot have font sizes and colours as they come "from the box".

sorry. it seems you cannot attach more than one file to a post each time. here's clip2.

Also:
1. yes, I clear all the caches after each change I make - a habbit I've picked up along the way :-)
2. Just upgraded to version 15.2 - if it matters.

Holy Cow! se7en, your not crazy, the same thing is with my WYSIWYG as well! I just noticed it, I have my third row bar on my wiki showing some plugins I installed, but the Style, Font, Size boxes are all missing too. I never even realized that until now after looking at your screen shots. There is something definitely amiss here! Thanks for bringing this up! I'll work on it and see if I can find out what the heck is going on.

Hello John,

Indeed, indeed :-)
Thank you for having a closer look. Also, just so you know, last Thursday I received an email from you and replied to it from my mailbox the next day. To whatever reason the "Mail Delivery Systsem" came back to me advising failure of delivery - there were 3 attampts made: on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm not sure how this works and I though you should be aware - just in case :-)

As to the toolbars in WYSIWYG - at least in your case the 3rd one is showing - I can't get it visible in the first place not to mention adding any functions to it!

Oh, well. Sometimes it really does feel like we've created them systems to serve us only to find ourselves serving them... :-)

Looking forward :-)

I have had similar problems with toolbars, but I will have to check if they are the same.

But I have another priority with my newsletters not getting sent and have to get that fixed first.

It sounds like you have the Use Wiki syntax in WYSIWYG option enabled. As noted on the Admin screen, if enabled your toolbar will be limited to only the Wiki tools.

Remember, when editing toolbars (on the Admin: Toolbars page), you need to select the correct WYSIWYG version (based on your Use Wiki syntax in WYSIWYG selection:

Saved me! Thank you so much!!!

Hello,

I'm not sure I understand what you want me to do here. In the first part of your post, do you mean I should have that box unticked? In the second part of your post, do you mean I should have WYSIWYG (HTML mode) option chosen?
Well, in the answer to both questions is yes, then I think I have everything done that way. I'm not sure as my version of TikiWiki displays all of this somewhat differently. Please have a look at the clips attached. Clip3 shows all of the settings I have in place. Clip4 shows that despite of them in place I still can't see the 3rd row in the editor.
I appreciate your time and help it's just nothing seems to look exactly the way it does on my end and at the end of the day I still can't make this work :-)

Once again, perhaps I should leave this alone and maybe try and change the font settings in the theme itself. Wouldn't it be easier?

Please let me know your thoughts and thank you for coming back and trying for me :-)

Hello,

Unticked as per attached clip5 - applied, cleared caches, refreshed and... this hasn't changed a thing and there's still no 3rd toolbar visible when editing the page - just like in the clip attached a post earlier. :-(

Admittedly, I'm beginning to think I've given this enough attention and since there's still no resolve I'm a little bit worried about how other tools may behave as I try progressing.

Anyway, thank you for spending time and trying... I can only imagine how annoying this may be on your end :-)

Sorry, but I cannot duplicate your problem. On the Tiki demo site, I'm able to see all 3 toolbars (and even add more) in WYSIWYG mode.

You need to confirm that you're not using wiki syntax for your pages, that the page was created in WYSIWYG (HTML) mode, and that you're not switching back-and-forth.

Hello,

I have no idea what I've done but the 3rd toolbar has just appeared!!! I've been playing around with site logos and favicons, clearing caches, closing and reopening the browser and also deleted a bunch of cached files from my cPanel/File Manager/home/Public_html/temp/cache folder. And then, at some stage, when I went to edit the home page again and switched to the wysiwyg editor the 3rd toolbar showed up! see attached clip7.

No idea what the trigger was there but I couldn't be happier and live to see the finale of this saga!

Thank you for all your help and patience. Got there in the end!!! :-)
