Re: Require Admin Approval on Creating Wiki Page

Hello NoPantsMcDance,

sadly I have nit the time to answer in detail - I just stumbled over your post whilst searching for s.th. else.

But at least a pointer:
See here: https://doc.tiki.org/Flagged-revisions-tab

You need to enable the flagged revision at yourdomain.com/tiki-admin.php?page=wiki

  • 1st you need one or several categories, maybe a category tree.
  • 2nd you need to apply category permissions to these categories, where you define, which group(s) can edit and which group(s) can approve edits.
Mind that category permissions overwrite global permissions.
  • 3rd add the approval category(ies) to the flagged revision panel in tiki-admin.php?page=wiki
  • 4th mind that the grou(s) that can edit pages in those categories need to be able to categorise or to change / apply categories.
This might be a global permission. You might want to figure that out with some playing around (sorry).

  • You can optionally activate "wiki structures" and create one wiki page and a structure from that wiki page.
Apply one of the staging categories to that wiki page.
You will then find an input field top right of the wiki page, where your users can add more wiki pages to the wiki structure (top left you'll find a breadcrumb menu of the structure). Wiki pages created directly in wiki structures will get applied the same categories as the defining initial start page of that wiki structure, thus testing will be easier for you.
  • Login in a different browser with a test user who has only editing permission for the approval categories and try to add a page to the wiki structure. If everything is setup right, you go back to the first browser to your admin user and figure out to approve the change.
  • If that is done, you might want to figure out the notifications.
  • I might want to create a video on that or some type of HowTo documentation to make this a bit easier to understand and to follow up.

I hope, my pointer does any help you, even as this was kind of an incomplete crash course.

I set this thread to get a notification for replies, for that I have a chance to follow up, once you will be getting in trouble.

Regards,
Torsten
