The batch upload feature doesnt expand ZIP files, I think ZIP files are only for image galleries
The batch upload on File galleries I think refers to the several file name input boxes.
In your apache config, there is probably a LimitRequestBody that you will either need to alter, or maybe add, see httpd.apache.org for documentation on that.
