Huge headings

posts: 55 Germany

Hi!

Most pages only use one, or a few, levels of headings. For them, the headings < h1 > and < h2 >, in the rendered HTML page, are much too big. It isn't pretty. It's the HTML default to do it like this, but I'm wondering if it could be done better.

Maybe the heading font sizes could be modified by an embedded, automatically generated, per-page stylesheet. For a page with only one level of headings, the < h1 > element would be not much larger than the normal text. For a page with five levels of headings, the < h1 > would be much bigger, and the < h5 > would be the one, which is not much larger than the normal text.

Does this sound like a good idea?

Bye,
Volker

Hi @Volker Wysk

You can change the size of your heading in custom css (in the look and feel control panel for instance), add something like this:

Copy to clipboard
h1 { font-size: 2rem; }

or, if you only need this on some pages you could do:

Copy to clipboard
.cat_small-headings h1 { font-size: 2rem; }

and make a category called small-headings and use that on the "Categories to add as CSS classes to " preference (also found on looks and feel customisation)

Hope that helps

Thanks for the info. It isn't something I need to have, but an idea how Tiki wiki pages could be made prettier. The idea is to have it done automagically for all pages, as a default. I think most pages would benefit from it.

So, would it be a good idea? I don't have enough knowledge to answer that.

Bye,
Volker

You can also go to admin/look and feel/customization/theme customizer tool/ and click on the little right arrow icon and you'll be presented with a theme customizing tool, and you can use the CSS generated from it.

The idea is to have this automatically generated on a per-page basis. For a page with many levels of headings, you need a large heading for level 1. Whereas in a page with only one heading, you need a small heading for level 1.

So I don't think this can be done with themes.
