how can one get rid of a word "tiki" from urls?

United Kingdom

Hello,
After installing tiki this is what the home page address looks like: http://domainname/tiki-index.php
The question is simple, is there a way to for example make it look like this: http://domainname/home
so there's no "tiki" word in there?
Again, I'm a complete newbie and simply need a bit of help with what you may consider obvious. Thank you for any help you can give

Se7en, go to your admin/control panel/SEF URL and check mark the "Search engine friendly url" box. And you should be all set to go.
What version Tiki are you using?

I did that. Then when going to my home page from the left hand side admin menu it returns error 404 Page Not Found. Are there any other parametres that should be modified in order for this to work? Also, the Tiki I'm trying to use: Version : 15.1, release 08/06/2016.

Don't forget to modify your .htaccess file per the instructions at https://doc.tiki.org/Apache+Clean+URLs

Go to Step 1 and start there. I am guessing you are on shared hosting, in which case you are more than likely using Apache.

Let us know if you need some more help.

Thanks to your help this has been resolved now:
- when logged in as admin to my home page I went to control panels, SEF URL and there ticked the box "Search engine friendly URL"
- logged on to my hosting account, went to control panel there and FTP Manager
- did file search for file named "_htaccess"
- renamed "_htaccess" to ".htaccess"
The home page reloded without "tiki" in there! Success.

Thank you for your help and patience!

Glad you got it! Thanks for not giving up!
