Hi gezza

Re your comment on bug/wish 5814

Having a minimum text height is a good idea but ...

...even though it may look weird, there are some valid occasions when you just need to have a wider text area to make some editing that bit easier.

Forcing the width to be constrained just doesn't make sense when (I assume) some clever z-index setting would let it sit on top of a right-hand column if there was one, and I'm pretty sure it used to do this OK at one time or I would have flagged it as a bug before.

Cheers

geoff

Comment: i would prefer if textareas could not be increased horizontally outside their parent div. It loooks weird to me.
Also iw woul be better if they can not be made smaller horizontally, and vertically I would keep at least one row always visible (no point reducing below that)

So how about adding this to one of the base less files:
\{CODE(caption="css" wrap="1" colors="css")\}textarea.form-control {
min-height: 32px;
max-width: 100%;
min-width: 100%;
}\{CODE\}

Hi geoff
It looks weird to me because the toolbars wont get bigger and basically the screen is not designed to have wider input area. Expanding over the parent div looks buggish to me (the fullscreen button should do the expanding of textarea)
anyway, it is probably a matter of personal preference, could be in custom.css
I see chibaguy already took care of the z-index with r57795
cheers,
gezza

Hi,

I hope that change works ok (I tested with some menu dropdowns, etc. but
probably not all possibilities). As to your points, gezza, I suppose for
anyone who doesn't like the appearance of the textarea being expanded
outside its container, they can just not expand it that far. In a way, I
understand the objection to that kind of "rubbery" page parts, but they
can be useful, as Geoff said.

Hi Gary - just been testing your commit and it looks good so far - but will continue to check it out some more .....

.. and as you said, although the rubbery look is odd it is really useful

Thanks
