Background at the roundtable page

posts: 7861 Israel

Hi,

I've been thinking about this one a lot but never put it down.

The background at https://tiki.org/Roundtable+Meeting+2016+09 is nice but I'm not fan of having the image seen between the block (col1 and modules).

I would prefer.

  1. middle : white with a bit of opacity ?

… no ? :-)

What about this:

  1. col1 \{ background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.85);\}
  2. middle \{ background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.85);\}

Makes the modules litterally white and around the modules in the middle
the background shining through.

The #col1 transparency seems to have no real effect anymor and it would
be about the same to do this:

  1. col1 \{ background-color: #fff;\}
  2. middle \{ background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.85);\}

What do you think?

Regards,
T.

Maybe I'm using the wrong side of my brain on this, but at this site
pages already tend to have information overload. I don't really think
adding an unrelated photo as a page background is a good move. If the
photo was something related like a montage of BBB video thumbnails, then
I could at least see how it's adding something to the page besides more
visual clutter. It also bothers me that out of hundreds of pages at
tiki.org, _one_ happens to have a photo background. I think we should
try to reinforce visual patterns for the sake of users, not disrupt
them. Sorry, just IMHO.

I agree.
In short my issue was general overload visual. :-)
