Uploading Files

United States

I can't seem to upload files onto my wiki (apart from image files --> png/gif).

What my main goal is, is to upload my files (that are located on the server that my wiki is on) and then dedicate a page with a search module to allow a user to be able to search for any file. I want the user to be able to type in any word and find a file that contains that word within the document.

I have tried uploading a txt, xls, doc file and they all haven't worked. It's not a size issue as the spreadsheet that I tried to upload was the same as a png file that i successfully uploaded onto the site. Does anyone have any recommendations for this problem?

If this isn't possible, my main functionality goal is to have the user be able to search those files. If they can search for the files even though they're just located on the server, I'm okay with that as well --> as long as they can search for those files and be able to download them, I don't care where they are located to be honest.

Can someone help me with this?smile

Can you provide some additional information:

  • What Tiki version are you using?
  • What is your hosting environment?
  • You said that uploading txt, xls, doc files failed. What message was displayed?
  • Did you turn on the Tiki error reporting? What messages are returned?
  • Have you reviewed the server logs for additional details?

Can you duplicate your issue on http://demo.tiki.org? I was able to upload files of all types.

Version is 12.0
Hosting on own server.
the thing is, uploading image files (png, gif, jpeg) are all okay, but when I try to upload text, spreadsheet etc, the loading for the upload of the file never completes. When i exit out, the file hasn't uploaded. It's not a size issue as I tried to upload both a jpeg and xls file that was 50kb large and the jpeg quickly uploaded while the xls did not.

All php errors are reported

Note that 12.2 was recently released... maybe this has already been fixed?

You say you're on your "own server"... Apache? Windows? What PHP version?

I cannot duplicate your problem on any of my setups (which makes me think it is something specific to your environment). Did you run the Tiki Server Check?

Try logging a bug and attempting to duplicate the issue in a new Tiki instance.
