help using LIST plugin

posts: 9 Netherlands

I'm a newbie and have a very simple question (version 12.8). I want to list pages by category. Is it correct that I should make a page and use the LIST plugin? (This took me some time to find out).

This plugin gives unexpected results, at least to me. E.g. I made a page with this code:
LIST()
list max="10"
filter type="wiki page"
filter categories="2"
LIST
(Left out the {})

The result is list of a page which is not in category 2 and pages which are in this category are not listed. What is my mistake?

Yeah, this is the feature I was looking for! Thanks Rick!

Ok but a new problem arises: this list is only visible to me as an administrator. Clearly I have to adjust some permissions, but where?

[edit: found it under global permissions -> anonymous can view category listings}

Likely this way:

Create a category.
Apply the tracker to that category.
Set permissions for the group and for the tracker feature in "category permissions"

You find category permissions when you adminisrate the categories under the wrench symbol left of the category name in the category list (tiki-list_categories.php)

Torsten

Thanks Thorsten, your remarks reflect a deeper truth that I cannot yet grasp smile. In other words, because of my limited knowledge I don't understand what you say, as the use of trackers in this context is not clear to me question. For time I'm satisfied as it works, and I'll tackle the trackers later wink.

Ohhhh sorry egberto,

MY fault! Your use case is WIKI ooops.

In your case you do not apply the tracker or a tracker item to the category, but you apply the wiki page to the category (I was a bit tired ;-) )

So update:

Create a category.
Apply the wikipage to that category.
Set permissions for the group and for the wiki feature in "category permissions"

You find category permissions when you administrate the categories under the wrench symbol left of the category name in the category list (tiki-list_categories.php)

So sorrrry. A typical case of "Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard" (PEBCAK).

Regards,
Torsten
