Upgrading from 6.2 to a version that supports PHP 5.3.17

My server is upgrading to PHP 5.3.17 and we're still on Tiki version 6.2. I tried just upgrading to the version available through Fantastico (I'm not a Linux expert; I'm doing this as a volunteer for a non-profit organization to which I'm a member) and Tiki version 8.2 broke the site, so I had to back track to the previous version (6.2).

How can I best upgrade to the latest version without creating errors that I haven't a clue how to fix. Is there a step-by-step guide for upgrading from a very old version to the latest version?

I don't know if it makes any difference, but we're only using the wiki, wysiwyg, and file gallery (no blog or user accounts or other features) and we don't anticipate using it any other way as it's just a membership log-in area to archive files.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi!

You can upgrade to 6.7, as the 6.x LTS series is supported until May 2014.

Otherwise, go for 9.x LTS because 8.x is no longer supported.

See Version Lifecycle for details.

Best regards,

M ;-)
