12.0 -> 15.0 upgrade. Files issue.

Hello !

I'm doing a test upgrade with xampp on my laptop before doing the deed on our website (permaculture.alsace).
Everything seems ok but I have a problem with the files.

I copied the content of /www/files/ from my backup to the new /www/files/ folder but when I download a file it's not possible to open it.

Did I miss something in the upgrade process ?

Do you mean that you're not able to download a file from the Tiki File Gallery in Tiki 15 that you were able to in Tiki 12?

  • Are your storing the File Galley files in the database or a directory?
  • Are your folder permissions identical?
  • Did you complete the Tiki upgrade process?
  • Exactly what file error message are you getting?

Files are stored in a directory.
I'm not sure the folder permissions are identical but I doubt it's an issue because my test environment is a xampp install on win10.
Tiki upgrade is complete but I have a problem with both the files and images:
They are listed, can be downloaded. Have the right size but they don't display properly in the articles and once downloaded neither images nor PDFs can be opened with a regular viewer.

I have no clue and ran into some trouble while trying to mass upload the files on the test environment. I will check it again tomorrow.

Well, I retried it today with tiki 15.1 as our 12.0 website got hacked (had an email from web host saying that some of our pages were serving phishing) and we need to update reasonnably quickly (it's not like we use it for ecommerce or anything but it's no fun having our site down).

So I still did a test run this morning on a XAMPP install on windows and I couldn't get the files working properly:

-> They are stored in folder.
-> Folder permissions should be an issue under windows.
-> I completed the upgrade process
-> The images do not display in the articles on the website and when I download a file, the size is right, but it cannot be opened

I'm thinking that along the way there might be some sort of encoding error that I missed. But I really have no clues where to look at.

No, it seems unrelated...

Let's first confirm that the files themselves are not corrupt.

Since you're storing files in the directory, you can simply rename the file to its original name (for example, from 00ae1b56043bf16b80740346d3352aff to myfile.gif).

You can grab the file from your webserver, copy it to your PC, then rename it.

Are you able to open the file?

So, the good news is that after the upgrade, everything works fine on my webhost: permaculture.alsace

Now, for the weird news:
-> when I rename a file from d45d0d98e0e385cf74df2663fe4f146d to "St Gall - Espace central et serres A4 13 12 20.pdf" for example, I get a weird error message from the pdf viewer when opening it.
-> I tried it with file from my backup, test update and pulled from the ftp on the server with the same error.

So in the end it works where it matters but their might be something (windows related ?) about this that I'm missing ...
