Trackers - Images

I am using version 1.10.....

The tracker image field is not working for me....it does various things, but for the most part the problem is it looks like it uploads the image somewhere (database?)....sometimes I see something and it looks all encrypted....it either never displays, or when trying to view the tracker I receive a blank page....

possible questions:
1) Anybody succesfully using tracker images in version 1.10?
2) Anything I need to do to ensure my mysql database will properly store images?
3) Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Maybe you should install a release version of Tiki to at least check if the databases are functioning normally. Images work OK in trackers in 1.9+, but you'd have to compare files in CVS to see what might be different between the stable versions and 1.10.

I haven't checked if the tracker attachment storage preference (database or file system) also controls storage of images in trackers, but you could try switching that to file system if it's set on database now.

Thank you for your quick response....I am beginning to see I got a little ahead of myself by moving to the 1.10 version....I mainly did it because I needed the wysiwyg for the wiki's and thought it might be easier to upgrade than integrate myself.....

I think I do want to step back to an earlier version....is there a way to back down from 1.10 to 1.9.8? we have quite a bit of content in 1.10....

or....are there daily upgrade releases of 1.10 that I could try? If so, could you include a url to it?

Thanks once again for your assistance.....

The important thing here is to not lose the database content. You can replace the 1.10 Tiki file directories with 1.9.7 (or soon, 1.9.8) versions. I don't know what the database schema differences are and what would happen if you used the 1.9+ files with a 1.10 database. Maybe it'd be worth a try. As long as you have a backup of the database (made outside of Tiki), there isn't much risk.

There are snapshots at http://de.tikiwiki.org110.tar.bz2, 110.zip

Sure. Actually, it seems like a good approach would be to install 1.9.7 in another directory and try pointing it at your current database. Just copy db/local.php from the existing installation to the new one, for the db connection. That way you could continue to update 1.10 if you want, while having 1.9+ working too, with the same content. Of course there could be db incompatibilities that would make this not work.

You've been so helpful, I almost feel bad about asking you another question....almost :-)

What is the proper way to upgrade your current tiki installation to a newer snapshot? Do you download, backup your current folder, and then copy the downloaded files over the current installation? How does it keep any custom menus, or settings?

Thanks!
